One Critical Transparency Flaw In The New USA Freedom Act
Today, the House introduced an updated USA Freedom Act. Despite its failure to pass last year (a watered-down version did pass the House, but it failed a cloture vote in the Senate), it is still the surveillance bill most likely to pass Congress – though if no bill passes at all, it’s likely Section 215 will simply sunset.
The legislation offers compromise not simply with small steps forward, but by giving a little to each side. For example, in a nod to reformers, the bill would place new restrictions on how the government can use Section 215 of the Patriot Act, which currently permits intelligence agencies to collect virtually all telephone records in America. Section 215 is currently set to sunset on June 1st of 2015, but if the bill passes, Section 215 (among other provisions) would be reauthorized until December 15, 2019.

Among the moments captured by cameras was a heartwarming photo of a young boy passing out water bottles to a line of police officers in riot gear.
In a community where even the police commissioner has admitted to a strained relationship between cops and residents, it was a moving gesture.
And the unidentified boy wasn’t the only one going out of his way to calm tensions on Tuesday…

Two thousand Falun Gong practitioners held a parade and rally in Flushing, New York on April 25, 2015, to commemorate the 16th anniversary of the peaceful protest of 1999.
Sixteen years ago, on April 25, 1999, over 10,000 practitioners quietly demonstrated in Beijing. They presented three requests to the Chinese leadership: that the practitioners violently arrested in Tianjin be released, that their legal right to practice be recognized, and that the ban on publishing Falun Gong materials be lifted.
The 10,000 left peacefully later that day, after then-Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji met with Falun Gong representatives. Zhu agreed to release the Tianjin practitioners and gave assurances that the government did not oppose Falun Gong.

The doctors are part of FESPROSA, Argentina’s Union of medical professionals. Citing the World Health Organization’s recent declaration that the glyphosate chemicals used in Monsanto’s best-selling herbicide Round Up (formulated to use on Round Up Ready crops) are “likely carcinogenic,” they add an additional disclaimer:

Birth defects
Skin disease
Respiratory illness
Neurological disease

US Drone Strike “Accidentally” Kills US And Italian Citizens
Two hostages that were being held by Al-Qaeda on the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan were killed earlier this year by a US drone strike, the White House has admitted.
“It is with tremendous sorrow that we recently concluded that a US government counterterrorism operation in January killed two innocent hostages held by Al-Qaeda since 2011,” read a press release issued by the Obama administration Thursday morning.
American contractor Dr. Warren Weinstein and Giovanni Lo Porto, an Italian aid worker, were the innocent victims of the strike that also took the lives of one other American, Ahmed Farouq, who was said to be involved with Al-Qaida.

A bill that would heavily diminish the effect of federal programs that militarize local police was signed into law on Thursday.
Introduced by Rep. Nicholas Schwaderer (R-Superior), House Bill 330 (HB330) bans state or local law enforcement from receiving significant classes of military equipment from the Pentagon’s “1033 Program.” It passed by a 46-1 vote in the state Senate and by a 79-20 vote in the state House. On Thursday, Gov. Steve Bullock signed it into law.
The new law will prohibit state or local law enforcement agencies from receiving drones that are armored, weaponized, or both; aircraft that are combat configured or combat coded; grenades or similar explosives and grenade launchers; silencers; and “militarized armored vehicles” from federal military surplus programs.

The thieves were trying to reach the Hua Pagaoda, part of the Guanghui Temple, located in Zhengding, a county of southwestern Hebei province, China. The four-storey pagoda was first erected during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD), a period often regarded as a high point in Chinese civilization: a golden age of cosmopolitan culture. The pagoda is richly decorated with carvings of Buddhas, elephants, and aquatic animals. Hua Pagoda also has four small buildings attached, all crowned with an egg-shaped tip.

National Guard On The Streets As Baltimore Riots: Bloods And Crips Call Truce Amid Chaos, Stores Looted, Buildings Burning, Leftist Media Silent
Sections of Baltimore plunged into full-scale chaos Monday with protesters setting stores and cars on fire as well as attacking police, random citizens, and members of the media.
What started as a protest over the death of Freddy Gray turn into a display of pure madness with high schoolers and possibly gang members overtaking outnumbered police, setting a CVS Pharmacy and a senior center ablaze while looting countless other businesses on the way to one of the worst riots in recent history. Officials declared a state of emergency and a curfew that begins Tuesday in an attempt to restore order.
“At least 15 officers were hurt, and some two dozen people were arrested. Two officers remained hospitalized,” the Associated Press reported.
“The National Guard represents the last resort in restoring order,” Gov. Larry Hogan told a news conference. “I have not made this decision lightly.”

Sections of Baltimore plunged into full-scale chaos Monday with protesters setting stores and cars on fire as well as attacking police, random citizens, and members of the media.
What started as a protest over the death of Freddy Gray turn into a display of pure madness with high schoolers and possibly gang members overtaking outnumbered police, setting a CVS Pharmacy and a senior center ablaze while looting countless other businesses on the way to one of the worst riots in recent history. Officials declared a state of emergency and a curfew that begins Tuesday in an attempt to restore order.
“At least 15 officers were hurt, and some two dozen people were arrested. Two officers remained hospitalized,” the Associated Press reported.
“The National Guard represents the last resort in restoring order,” Gov. Larry Hogan told a news conference. “I have not made this decision lightly.”

Why You Need To Stop Eating Sugar
About a year and a half ago, on the advice of a colleague, I gave up refined sugar. I was noticing that when I ate chocolate, the osteoarthritis in my fingers would flare up. Usually, I have no symptoms in my hands at all, so when I began having pain, my desire for chocolate diminished significantly.
Giving up chocolate was easy when I also decided to give up white sugar, as the two go together, traditionally.
Interestingly, when I stopped the sugar, I noticed a real change in my overall health.
Looking back, I’d have to say that stopping refined sugar was the most powerful health intervention I’ve ever undertaken. My overall state of well-being has never been better, and the general level of inflammation in my body is at an all-time low.

Twelve Arrested In Baltimore After March To Protest Black Man's Death
Thousands of people marched peacefully through downtown Baltimore on Saturday to protest the unexplained death of a black man in police custody but pockets of violence erupted when a small group smashed windows and threw bottles at officers. At least 2,000 demonstrators attended the march to City Hall, the largest turnout since 25-year-old Freddie Gray died a week ago. This is also true of societies, where moral evolution can be traced by simply listing the things on which they declare war. Not so long ago, for instance, the world’s good guys — the US, Europe’s democracies and a few others — fought existential battles against fascism and communism. Then they went after poverty and discrimination. They were, at least in terms of their ideals, on the side of personal freedom and opportunity and against institutionalized control.
But then came the war on drugs, in which the US imprisoned millions of non-violent people guilty only of voluntary transaction. Not long after that we declared war on “terror,” using the enemies created by our own incompetent foreign policy as an excuse for a vast expansion of surveillance and police militarization.
And now, seemingly out of nowhere, comes a new enemy: cash. Around the world, governments and banks are making it harder to save and transact with paper and coin. The ultimate goal seems to be the elimination of private tools of commerce, in favor of transparent (to governments and banks) plastic, checks and online payment systems. So You Say You Won’t Vote? Here’s Why We All Should
During virtually every election cycle, people are heard saying “I’m not voting.” Yet, their reasons are usually based on fairly inane excuses. Let’s take a look back at history and how we came to have the right to vote in the first place. Perhaps some of the non-voting population simply needs a refresher in our nation’s history. It may remind all of us about how and why our country came to be the greatest in the world.

What I find amazing is the media’s refusal to cover the fact that the Clinton Foundation gives out only about 15 percent of its “donations” for grants. We keep hearing about all of the “good works” that they do, but compared to its revenue, it is nothing but a money beast that enriches and corrupts others. So here we go:
The Clinton Foundation has joined Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network on a list of naughty nonprofits maintained by Charity Navigator, a prominent charity monitor.

The video captures the awful scene as a 7.9 magnitude earthquake occurred, sending an avalanche down upon the South Base Camp on Everest on Saturday.
The avalanche killed at least 18 people at the base camp and injured over 60.

While this all sounds like “sunshine and lollipops” we must consider this a step towards the integration of preparation for martial law. Civil Unrest Has Begun In Baltimore And This Is Only Just The Start Of Something Much Bigger
On Saturday night, the city of Baltimore resembled a warzone as protests over the death of Freddie Gray turned wildly violent. One eyewitness reported watching the streets around him and his friend “turn into madness” as they left a baseball game between the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles. Car windows were smashed, stores were robbed, chairs were thrown and large numbers of random bystanders were attacked. One prominent Democrat claims that those committing the violence were “mainly from out of town“, but how would he know that? Today, there are approximately 2.7 million people living in the Baltimore metropolitan area. On Saturday night, the city of Baltimore resembled a warzone as protests over the death of Freddie Gray turned wildly violent. One eyewitness reported watching the streets around him and his friend “turn into madness” as they left a baseball game between the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles. Car windows were smashed, stores were robbed, chairs were thrown and large numbers of random bystanders were attacked. One prominent Democrat claims that those committing the violence were “mainly from out of town“, but how would he know that? Today, there are approximately 2.7 million people living in the Baltimore metropolitan area. It is an area that has been known for poverty, crime and drugs for many years, and as racial tensions continue to increase in this country it is a powder keg that could erupt at literally any time. We got a preview of what can happen on Saturday night. If this is how people will act while economic conditions are still relatively stable in this country, what in the world is going to happen when things really start falling apart?

7.5-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Nepal, Felt In India
A 7.5-magnitude earthquake has struck 80km east of the city of Pokhara, Nepal, the US Geological Survey said. Some buildings have reportedly collapsed in the capital, Kathmandu. Witnesses say that the tremors were also felt in India.There have been no official reports of damage or injuries. However, Reuters witness said some buildings in Kathmandu had collapsed.

April 13, 2015 On April 11, 2015, Gehad El-Haddad, spokesperson of the Muslim Brotherhood, was sentenced to life imprisonment in case 317 for the year 2013 known as “the media trial”.
Fourteen defendants received death sentences while thirty seven including Gehad were sentenced to life in prison. Among the convicted are 15 journalists and spokespersons.

China Toughens Up Food Safety Laws By Adopting New Amendments
In the wake of several high-profile food safety scandals, China’s lawmakers have adopted tougher amendments to bolster the country’s existing food safety law. The changes, effective Oct. 1, 2015, will add 50 new articles, or about half again what the previous law contained.
Many of the new amendments address infant formula regulations and the online food market, which has seen rising popularity in China. The changes also set tougher penalties for violations, according to news reports, and are the first changes to the law since it was originally adopted in 2009.
